Watze de Wolf
Watze de Wolf is the driving force behind regMSC, based in Finland, with over 35 years of experience focused on European chemical regulations and environmental safety assessments. He worked in consumer products and chemicals industries as environmental risk assessor and regulatory expert before joining ECHA until his retirement in 2023. He enjoys dealing with technical issues and describes himself as someone who finds solutions.

Among others, he was responsible for Cefic’s environmental inputs into the OECD criteria development of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS), which underpins EU’s CLP regulation (Classification and Labelling of Products; (EC) No 1272/2008). During his time working in industry he was a member of the ECETOC Scientific Committee and the Cefic LRI Steering Committee.
At ECHA since 2010, he worked as a Head of Unit with the REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals; (EC) No 1907/2006) and BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation; (EU) 528/2012). He also has been for many years the Chairman of the REACH Member State Committee (MSC).
One of the things I have been able to achieve with the committee is that we really have a very open and constructive debate in the meetings. The style of meeting allows for heated discussions but we also have collaboration and a willingness to reach day-to-day solutions and to look for longer-term solutions
